The Jarlmadangah Burru community was established in 1987 by the Tradition Owners of the country. The land that the community has been built on was carefully chosen by the Traditional Owners as a place where activity would not compromise culture and heritage sites. The people of the Jarlmadangah Burru community maintain a close association with Mount Anderson Station.

Jarlmadangah Burru currently runs a cultural centre, community store, community school and successful tourism business.  The community is a leading example of a successful community development model.
